Notes From This Sermon

FOUR FACTS ABOUT FOREVER

“So teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

Psalm 90:12

“The days of our lives are seventy years, or if by reason of strength they are

eighty years.” Psalm 90:10

  1. WE ARE ETERNAL BEINGS CREATED IN THE IMAGE OF AN ETERNAL GOD.
  •  GOD IS ETERNAL (past and future)

Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

Psalm 90:2

Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

Exodus 3:13-14

  • . WE ARE ETERNAL

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11

“And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into

eternal life.” Matthew 25:46

  1. HOW WE LIVE OUR LIVES ON THIS EARTH DETERMINES WHERE AND HOW WE WILL SPEND ETERNITY.

31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me. 37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’

40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch

as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ 41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ 44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’

46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into

eternal life.” Matthew 25:31-46

  1. THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE IN ETERNITY IS OUR ACCEPTANCE OF JESUS AS OUR SAVIOR AND LORD.

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of

Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have

eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,

that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For

God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world

through Him might be saved. 18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but

he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in

the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that

the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light,

because their deeds were evil.” John 3:14-19

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the

Father except through Me.” John 14:6

“…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart

that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart

one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto

salvation.” Romans 10:9-10

  1. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO CHANGE YOUR ETERNITY – UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE.

Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You

are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” 40 But the other, answering, rebuked him,

saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” 43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise. Luke 23:39-43
