COVID-19 Updates

Dear Vine Church Family,

October 2 Update

Earlier this week, we were granted clearance to resume use of the classroom space at the Rec Center! This means that Vine Kids will be able to resume meeting with us at the Rec starting this weekend. For full transparency, we’re including below the guidelines that we are continuing to follow to be able to host this vital ministry for our children.

All children will have their temperature checked at the check-in station. Any child with a temperature above 100 will not be allowed to check-in. Any volunteer exhibiting 2 or more COVID symptoms, or a fever will be asked to stay home. Children in second grade and above and volunteers will be required to wear a mask. Children will be encouraged to maintain social distancing. Elementary and preschool classes will not share toys or supplies. Nursery and Tots toys will be cleaned before and after each service. Children will sanitize hands before having snack. Tables, chairs and other furniture will be sanitized after each service. For full details, please click here.

July 17 Update

As of July 16th, a new State of Alabama order went into effect requiring masks covering the mouth and nostrils for all people in a public building who could be within 6 ft of another person from outside their immediate family. Although we understand that there are some exceptions, the Elders of Vine Church have decided to align with the state order as closely as possible. Additionally, our city government, which owns and operates the Rec Center, has asked that everyone who enters the building comply as well.

We are asking all of our Dream Team (those serving to facilitate the service) to comply with the order and will have a limited supply of masks available for those who need them.

To practically facilitate the worship service, our worship team and pastors will be removing their masks while on stage and maintaining appropriate distancing, but will be asked to use masks to and from the stage.

Additionally, there are state exceptions for those 6 and under, as well as those with a medical condition or disability which prevents them from utilizing a mask.

May 15 Update

We have some exciting news for you today: this Sunday, May 17th, we will once again be able to meet for our Sunday worship services back at the Rec Center! As many of you know, on Monday, May 11, our state government began allowing certain businesses to reopen and church services were on that shortlist! After consulting with our local government officials, they are also allowing us to resume the use of the Troy Rec Center, with some restrictions. Therefore, this Sunday, May 17, 2020, we will begin a phased approach to resuming our worship gatherings, starting with a single service this Sunday at 10 am!

In order to maintain the expectations of our state and local leadership, certain guidelines must be met during services for the time being. Please read the following guidelines carefully and be on the lookout for communication from your teams for further instructions on serving during this time.

Can I Attend?

Per the guidelines set out for us, we must be careful to do our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and keeping the number of new cases as low as possible. That being said, before you consider attending in-person, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?
  2. Are you experiencing a cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat?
  3. Have you had a fever in the last 48 hours?
  4. Have you experienced a new loss of taste or smell?
  5. Have you experienced vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours?

If you answer yes to any of these, please refrain from attending in-person for the time being.

Will Things Be Back-to-Normal?

For now, considering the guidelines set out for us as well as facility use restrictions that are beyond our control, the following ministry areas will not yet be resuming on Sunday mornings:

  • Coffee Station
  • Growth Track
  • Dream Team Central

So what will this Sunday look like? We will host a single 10 AM worship service with modified seating (please allow 2 seats between families). Our Setup and Hospitality teams will continue to prepare the facility for worship, our Greeting and Next Steps teams will continue to make sure our guests feel welcome and informed, our Usher team will continue to assist people in locating appropriate seating for their families, our Prayer team will continue to minister to those need a brother or sister to stand in the gap, and our Live-Stream team will continue to stream our service online for those who are unable to attend in person.

I Know Someone Who Is High-Risk. Should They Come?

Anyone who would consider themselves high-risk for infection or complications from COVID-19 is advised to continue worshiping with us through our online streaming service, provided through Facebook Live as well as our website at

This is an exciting time for our family and we all need each other to make this a time of growth. We have the opportunity to show our Leadership that opening churches is a good decision. We’re excited to see all of you getting back to what you were made for: serving the Kingdom of Heaven. Love you guys and we will SEE you Sunday!
