Relational Vampires – Part 4

Part 4- Hypocritical People

(Matthew 23:28 NLT) Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Why Are They Acting like That?

Maybe they don’t really know God.

(1 John 2:4) Whoever says, “I know him [God],” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.

Maybe they don’t know better yet.

(1 Corinthians 3:1)… I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ.

Maybe they know better but still disobey God.

(1 Peter 2:16 NLT) For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.

Prayerful Confrontation

God, help me confront with a heart to restore.

(Galatians 6:1) Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. …

(Galatians 6:1 NLT)… if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path.…

God, help me confront carefully.

(Galatians 6:1) … if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.

(1 Corinthians 10:12) So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!

God, help me see when I’m the hypocrite.

(2 Samuel 12:5-7) David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, “As surely as the LORD lives, the man who did this must die! 6 He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity.” 7 Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man!”…

(James 5:19-20)…if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.
