The Kingdom of God – Part 2

Pastor Louis Johnson, April 30, 2017

1. Where did sickness and disease come from?

(Genesis 3:6-7) So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

(Romans 5:12, 18) 12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—18 Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.

So sin brought sickness and disease.

  2. Who’s the author of sickness and disease?

(Acts 10:38) how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Jesus went about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil.

  3. Satan often uses demons to cause sickness.

(Luke 13:11)We see a demon called a spirit of infirmity.

(Matthew 17:14, 15) We see a demon causing mental illness.

(Isaiah 61:3) We see a demon causing heaviness and depression.

(Mark 9:25) We see a demon called a deaf and dumb spirit.

(Mathew 12:22) We see a demon causing blindness and muteness.

  1. We need to realize that faith is more than believing.

(Acts 14:8-10) And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. 9 This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, 10 said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked.

  2. Faith is expectation and what you do.

(Mark 2:5) When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”

  3. Faith is a now word.

(John 11:14, 27, 40) 14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead.

27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”

  1. The woman with an issue of blood.

  2. Blind Bartimaeus
